Juvéderm Volbella® is a newer formulation of filler that is considered to be the ideal Juvéderm option for the lips, lines around the mouth, and additional lip area volume.

Lips are one of the first areas we notice aging that can cause fuller lips to shrink and lose definition. We want our smile to look youthful and feel confident. Volume loss in the lip body can cause our lips to appear thinner and smaller as well as the beginning of lip wrinkles. How do we even get lip lines?

What is Juvéderm® Volite?

Juvéderm® Volite is an anti-aging injectable product specifically designed to improve the condition of the skin and to last up to nine months only with one treatment session. Unlike typical dermal fillers, Volite is a skin conditioning Hyaluronic acid (HA) gel that delivers improvements in skin smoothness (absence of fine lines), hydration and elasticity. It can be injected intradermally and is suitable to treat the face, neck, décolletage and hands of any skin types and ages.

Why is hyaluronic acid useful?

Juvéderm® Volite uses VYCROSS® technology, a unique manufacturing process which is the innovative combination of low and high molecular weight Hyaluronic acid to increase the cross-linking efficiency of HA chains. Hyaluronic acid is the key to smooth and hydrated skin.

Our skin cells naturally produce it in a certain amount to maintain moisture levels and hydration. However, due to the aging process and environmental effects, our natural production of HA gradually decreases.

HA basically works as a sponge for moisture thus making your skin feel and appear plump and healthy. As we age, our ability to hold in hydration weakens.

HA is a great ingredient to diminish your lines and wrinkles as it has the ability to hold up to six liters of water. By injecting small amounts of Juvéderm Volite, you are helping your skin to hold on to natural moisture.

The treatment is suitable for:

• Face & Neck – requires 2 ml
• Neck – requires 2 ml of Volite
• Décolletage – requires 2 ml of Volite

The results of Juvéderm® Volite can vary. We recommend to repeat the treatment about every 6-9 months or 1 ml every 3 months. Many patients will do Volite when they come in for a light laser treatment.

With Volite, however, the very liquid form of hyaluronic acid injected is first and foremost for the moisture. Volite is administered through a series of tiny injections.

It works to plump and hydrate skin, smoothing out roughness and evening out depressions. The filler will help fine lines around the eyes, plus it can also treat the neck, décolletage and hands. The results are subtle, and it’s more about adding a dewy quality to skin.

Alternative Fillers to Consider

PDO Medi threads are a good option to consider as well as combine with dermal fillers.

Some deeper creases, deep nasolabial folds, hollowed temples, chin augmentation, and hands are effectively corrected by Perlane, Restylane lift, Radiesse, or Sculptra.

When face deflation, loss of volume and or the natural loss of fat or bone support that comes with aging is a problem, then Dr. Brown may use Sculptra for overall collagen stimulation. Sculptra is also used in combinations with PDO for buttocks improve shape. Sculptra revolumizes face area’s that are imbalanced or have had fat loss and/or bone loss. This filler can be used as an alternative to Juvéderm Voluma XC.

Pre-Treatment Guidelines to consider before appointment

Avoid use for 10-14 days prior to your Juvéderm injections:

• Aspirin
• Pain relievers (Tylenol is okay)
• Coumadin (get primary physician approval first)
• Fish oil
• Glucosamine
• Ginko biloba
• Vitamin E
• Exotic or herbal supplements
• Consider using Arnica starting the day you get injections
